Practical Foundation Application Hacks for Aging Skin
As you age, your skin loses its natural softness and firmness. Aging skin brings with it many problems. Applying foundation can help conceal aging skin, but it needs to be done keeping in mind your skin’s condition and other factors. This article presents a few tips for applying foundation on aging skin.
1. Prep the skin
One of the key foundation tips for aging skin is to prep the skin before applying foundation. Prepping the skin like starting on a clean canvas. Wash your face using a gentle face wash. Once cleansed, use a moisturizer that is not too oily. People with dry skin can use face oil. Just before applying the foundation, use a primer. It helps to blur fine lines, if any.
2. Try a facial massage
A facial massage can be helpful for aging skin. A gentle massage every night or right before applying foundation can help improve blood circulation. You can use a jade facial roller for the massage. The jade stone in the roller not only helps in improving circulation, but it also allows the foundation to be absorbed better.
3. Use a liquid foundation
Aging can make your skin dry, so avoid using powder or matter foundation, as it can be harsh on the skin; so choose a liquid foundation instead. If you want full coverage for your skin, then you can go for a cream foundation. If light to medium coverage is what you want, then go with a liquid foundation. Use a sponge to blend in the liquid or cream. A damp sponge prevents a streaky look and makes the skin look dewy.
4. Hydrate sufficiently
Hydrating the skin is all the more important for aging skin. This is why you need to look for a foundation that is hydrating in nature. Avoid matte products, as they may not provide sufficient hydration. Make sure the foundation keeps your skin hydrated and soft throughout the day.
5. Use a light concealer
A concealer can be really helpful if you have aging skin. It helps hide dark circles and crow’s feet. However, a thick concealer can make the fine lines stand out; so go for a concealer that is lightweight.
6. Have a cotton swab ready
A handy tip to hide wrinkles and fine lines is to use a cotton swab once the foundation is applied. This will allow you to remove any excess foundation that may highlight the wrinkles. Alternatively, you can use your finger to spread the foundation by gently making circular motions on the skin.
7. Don’t forget sunscreen
Never go out into the sun without applying sunscreen. It should have an SPF factor of not less than 30. Reapply once every few hours.
8. Sleep well
Sleep plays an important role in keeping the skin young and healthy. Try to get six to eight hours of restful sleep every night.
